McKay has been fascinated with Wizard of Oz for years now. It is his default TV watching of choice. (Dan watches Vampire Ninja movies, I drool over watch Judge Alex). Anyhow, we’ve just started reading the book. It was probably predictable, but, the book is SO different!
- The tornado is a cyclone.
- No Mrs. Gulch.
- No Magician_Hustler in the trailer.
- Glinda is not Glinda and is old, not young and pretty.
- The Tinman, get this, I can’t believe they left this plot development out, has no heart because it was cut out by a curse-ed axe by the WW (wicked witch). He wants one back so he can remember how much he loved his munchkin fiancee. (I mean really, we’re talking violence, sorcery, interspecies dating, and probably some fake green card status here..this movie could have gone so far).
- The slippers? THEY AREN’T RUBY. They’re silver.
It’s all been lies, and we’re only on chapter 5!
Watching a movie with McKay last week (Tarzan I think). It’s getting pretty exciting and scary. He’s a bit anxious and starts asking lots of questions. “What was that?” “Did the tiger eat him?” “Hey..is the tiger a bad guy?” “What happened?”. I tell him that I don’t know, we’re just going to have to sit back and watch. A dozen questions later, again I say, “I don’t know, I’ve never seen this before either…”. He quips back, “Yeah, but you read the book…..”.
