They say that one of the challenges for us GenX’ers is taking care of kids and the seniors at the same time.

Well…that’s started around here.

Puck turns 10 next month, and the last few months have shown a rather rapid mental degeneration. It’s actually quite funny when we’re not being frustrated with him. He has forgotten _any_ rules we’ve ever imposed on him. He actually pushed past me in the bathroom the other day to start investigating the trash can, and was then quite bewildered when I hollered at him.

He’s also lost all of his street smarts. If not for the leash now, he’d totally wander off into traffic. Even ON leash we’ve had some scary moments when out of the blue he decides to cross the street against 3 lanes of traffic.

Most funny is the “pretend” deafness. He can still hear an Oreo being peeled apart from the other end of the house. But Dan yelling at him to get off the bed from 3 feet away? Nope.
