We spent the weekend in Squamish.
Hiked up the Chief today. Hardest & best hike we’ve ever done, and McKay did it all! Only 1.5 km in distance, and only 550m elevation increase or so…but almost all of it was full out scramble. Took us 6 hours up and back with a break for lunch in the rain/clouds/mist. Had to carry Puck up 4 parts (two ladders, the chain scramble and a 15 foot boulder). He was a bit embarrassed.
After 32 seconds on the top with a _straight_ 550m fall down 3 of the four sides, (we could see the pitons stuck into the rock by the climbers that come up the face) my maternal spider senses was telling me this was NO place for McKay. We then had to go back down what is called the banana peel. McKay and I did it on our bums.

Was lots of fun…I mean, it’s no jungle trek, and the only animal we saw (heard) was a wood grouse so hard to compare to people who LIVE in Kenya…but still, an adventure
