Once again, my years of martial arts training save me: if I hadn’t fallen properly, I probably would have broken my arm instead of getting a nice big bruise on my shoulder and little feeling below my elbow for several minutes.

M: Thank you! (dismounts stairs, then runs to catch up with L)

L: What was THAT?!

M: That was my dad.

D: …I’m okay!

I don’t recommend anyone step backwards, in the dark, down unfamiliar stairs, onto a wet newspaper that’s covered in wet leaves.  You may fall.
